My personal message:

During this holiday season we are reminded of the struggles each and every one of us have had to endure due to a global financial issue, I would like to remind all of you that we are so blessed to have the basics, food, transportation, a roof over our heads and most likely enough to share a wonderful holiday season with our families and friends.

Im not sure if you have ever seen a child who doesn’t have shoes or a warm sweater or food in his belly for Christmas day, needless to say the joy of a soccer ball or a Barbie doll and a little bit of food will bring a smile you will never forget.

It has come to my attention after 9 years of managing this Christmas program that we have made a huge difference with your help, this mission of Santa will be endless as long as you and I can continue to give. Its the smile you receive when you give, it’s the difference in a life in the holiday season something I believe in and know to be true

This is our 9^th year celebrating Christmas in Playa Del Carmen giving, giving and more giving.  We are counting on your support and participation to make this another successful holiday giving.

Our goal has always been to make a difference one child at a time defiantly not about the numbers and all about the quality of the love we give in delivering these gifts.

The clinic has attended to over 5000 people in need. Our services include daily medical attention and medical missions with experts  on a volunteer basis.

Angel Notion Welcomes New Medical Director – Dr. Liliana Altamirano

Dr. Liliana Altamirano has recently joined the Angel Notion Clinic from Guadalajara, Jalisco. She is a general practitioner, and in the short time she has been at the clinic, she has opened a in-house pharmacy for the patients. As Medical Director, she plans on expanding and improving services at the Nicte-Ha Clinic. Since her arrival, pediatric and dental services have been added. Call the clinic at 984 147 1794 or 984 859 2625 for more information. Staff, patients, volunteers and supporters of Angel Notion welcome Dr. Altamirano and support her efforts 100%. Keep up the good work!

On another note, the semester at Gateway College is at an end and the students will be returning to their native Norway. We would like to thank all the volunteers that came to help at the Clinic for the Diabetes Club and assisting Dr. Gabriel Ayala in many ways. And of course, all of the Gateway students that organized and participated in the fundraiser last month at Coco Maya.

Audiology Mission at Angel Notion Clinic December 4 & 5

Audiologists from the United States Dr. Sherry Weldele and Dr. Frank Weldele will be volunteering 2 days at the Angel Notion Nicte-Ha Clinic  December 4th and 5th. They will be doing hearing evaluations and fitting patients for hearing aids. The mission is open for children and adults alike. A small donation for the clinic is requested. Please spread the word and call the Clinic for appointment at tels: 984 859 2625 and 984 147 1794.

If you haven’t had your hearing tested for a while, this is a perfect opportunity.

Gateway College Benefit Party at Coco Maya a Great Succes!

Special thanks to Diana Gonzalez, the coordinator of the event from Gateway College. And to Director John Benjaminsen for originally suggesting the idea of a party.

And of course, Coco Maya, where the event took place last Saturday night, 14 of November. We would also like to thank the DJ and the students who sold kisses to make a difference, not only in the lives of the most needy, but also made a difference to those who received the kiss. The raffle tickets were sold at $50 each and the prizes included a bicycle, 3 pieces of exquisite handcrafted jewelry by Marge Tancre, 2 dinners at Carboncito’s, Complimentary open bar at Sr. Frog’s for 3 couples, Dinners for 3 couples at Carlos’n'Charlie’s and a night for two at a hotel with breakfast included.

The next benefit for Angel Notion will be Sunday, November 22 at 7 pm at Zenzi Beach Club. Film showing of Toro Negro with the presence of the director, Pedro Gonzales Rubio. This documentary was filmed locally and is in Spanish and English. Don’t miss it. The minimum donation per person is only $50 and includes canapés. If you haven’t enjoyed a film under the stars on the beach, with a margarita in hand…you haven’t lived.

Cine des Auteurs – Sunday, Nov. 22 at 7 PM – Benefit for Angel Notion

Le Cine – Club des Auteurs is having another film under the stars hosted by Zenzi Beach Club at 7 p.m. Sunday, November 22. The director, Pedro Gonzales Rubio will be present. “Toro Negro” is an awarding winning  documentary partly filmed in the Yucatan. It portrays the life of a young bullfighter from the Yucatan. Pedro Gonzales was also the director of photography on the film BABEL. English and Spanish. The donation of $50 mxn per person goes to Angel Notion.

Come and enjoy a lovely evening under the stars with a cocktail, viewing the documentary and there will be a discussion afterwards with the director.

Communicative Science Dept. at MSU Needs Our Help

Due to economic cutbacks, Michigan State University has announced they will be eliminating the Communicative Sciences and Disorders Department. Dr. Peter LaPine, as head of the department has completed 40 medical missions with Angel Notion over the years and has changed the lives of many, many children here in Quintana Roo. These children and adults are from families of lesser means and would not have had access to the surgeries and speech therapy provided by these speech professionals. Just in this last month, a team of 26 professionals from MSU were here at the clinic in Nicte-Ha, not to mention an ongoing virtual speech therapy clinic via internet every 15 days.

We ask Angel Notion supporters to support the Department of Commuicative Sciences to go to the following link and sign a Petition to save the dept. so Dr. LaPine and his students can continue to Make a Difference to the most needy of our community.

Dutch Friends Come to Angel Notion Bearing Gifts

Friends from Holland Miranda and Wim brought beautiful stuffed animals and medications to Angel Notion on their visit to Playa del Carmen. They also made a donation to the Diabetes Club. Thank you both for your generosity. Wim and Miranda will be moving permanently to the area soon so we will be seeing much more of them, as they plan on being involved with helping out at Angel Notion.
